Immeasurable Love

Immeasurable Love
 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen
                                                                                                      Ephesians 3:20-21


Why would God give us more than we could ask or imagine? Is it because He wants us to do something for Him? Does He want something in return?

No, that is not God’s way. He gives and does things for us just because He loves us. When we least expect it, God shows up with His immeasurable love just to remind us of His love. I call those moments, “love notes” from God.

Immeasurable, a word meaning: incapable of being measured; massive, indefinitely extensive, endless, great. That description best describes God’s love for us. It is endless and we don’t have to do anything to receive it.

God is love and He wants to give us that love. My love note came a week ago when I walked into a bookstore and saw my book, The Edge of His Garment, on a premium shelf. It was placed alongside those of some great ministers/pastors of God: Joyce Myers, Joel Osteen, Myles Munroe, Serita Jakes, Dr. Tony Evans, Dr. David Jeremiah and Jentezen Franklin.

It was certainly more than I could have imagined. Instantly I felt the power of God’s love. For a moment, I thought of reasons why I didn’t deserve God’s love, but then a scripture came to me,
                                           … I love those who love me... Proverbs 8:17
God was reminding me that He loved me with His immeasurable love and I didn’t have to do anything in return except love Him.

I think the lyrics of Irving Berlin’s song, “How deep is the Ocean?” say it best:

How much do I love you?
I'll tell you no lie
How deep is the ocean?
How high is the sky?
 
...That is how God’s love is for us…immeasurable.

Last year, one of the greatest moments of the year 2010 was found in the midst of the most painful moments of the year: Christmas day the husband annouces after all day celebration, the family had gone home, kids and grandkids...he stated, he wanted a divorce and was leaving.  Now what is so great about this?  Two days before I was in my morning prayer time < prayer closet to be exact > and the Lord impressed upon me some very strong thoughts...I started writing them down...and the first line of the thoughts were...Do not seek to change that which is at hand,..... there is so much more but my point is this: God warned me, encouraged me and gave me instructs two days earlier than when the moment of pain came forth...as I was weeping that night < 25th>  over this "moment" ... the Lord reminded me of what he had given me on the morning of the 23rd....I jumped up and ran to my notebook, picked it up and read it and read it and read it....I was thrilled b/c God knew ahead of time, and gave me the answer to what had yet not happened in my life!!!! God is omnipresent...so the husband leaving was "the present" with God but for me who is locked in "time" it was 2 days away....I rejoiced ...the pain was still there, the humiliation of it all was still there, the emptiness of the house was still there BUT THERE WAS SO MUCH PEACE AND THE PEACE SHUT THE MOUTH OF ALL THE OTHER "STILL THERE'S"....there is so much more victory to this story .... but I know that I know God loves me ... He gave me more than I could ask by the merely showing up 2 days early with warning, encouragement and instructions ~ Oh what an awesome God that loves us!

 Rhonda, thank you for sharing your 'love note' from God. When someone truly loves someone they do not want them to feel any pain. That is what God was doing with you. He did not want you to experience the pain.  He was wrapping His love around you on the 23th, trying to soften the hurt you were going to experience on the 25th. Yes, we love an awesome God and the great news is that He loves us back! I plan to share your story with others in my ministry group. Be blessed.
